“A sibling may be the keeper of one's memories, confidant, counselor, and intimate friend.” – Robert J. McKeon
At IHS, the spirit of Raksha Bandhan is celebrated with love, laughter, and deep-rooted values. Our students not only learn about the traditional significance of the festival—where sisters tie vibrant rakhis on their brothers’ wrists as a symbol of love and lifelong protection—but also experience the joy of creating these rakhis themselves, using threads, beads, and a whole lot of heart.
Adding a special layer of meaning this year, our little ones also made heartfelt rakhis for our brave soldiers at the borders—our real-life protectors—who stand guard so we may sleep in peace.
“Our flag does not fly because the wind moves it… it flies with the last breath of each soldier who protected it.”
Crafted with gratitude, respect, and immense love, these rakhis will be sent to the armed forces as tokens of appreciation for their unwavering courage.
Through this celebration, our students understand that Raksha Bandhan isn’t just about siblings; it’s about honouring bonds of protection, care, and gratitude—whether within families or for those who selflessly serve the nation. At IHS, festivals are not just celebrated—they are cherished, as moments that nurture compassion, connection, and cultural pride.
